Let’s get this party started then, shall we? Introducing the first special edition and exclusive release of the Pro:Direct Soccer 25th Anniversary celebrations – The PUMA Future Tokyo. Kicking off a landmark year of surprises we take things back to 2011 for a modern take on an iconic boot and goalkeeper glove design.
On the 9th of February 2011 Pro:Direct Soccer joined forces with PUMA for a special edition and exclusive PUMA Powercat 1.10 Tokyo which was inspired by the neon lights and vibrant culture of Japan’s capital city. For 2023, and with the honour of being our first special edition launch in this incredible year, it’s lifted off the throwback silhouette of the Powercat and transformed into an elite modern-day Future, drenched in the DNA of the original.
Throwback Design
The disruptive design and hype around the original limited edition drop over a decade ago resulted in it being Pro:Direct Soccer’s fastest selling PUMA boot at the time – and it’s back for a second exclusive serving on a modernised PUMA Future boot created for playmakers who are looking to get on the ball with ultimate control, power and agility.
The Story of The Original
When the original launched back in 2011 it was only available at Pro:Direct Soccer and on PUMA’s store, and when images of the boot were revealed the day before release – in the earlier days of social media – the comments section was getting slated by the ‘black boots only’ brigade. Had we overbought? Were we going to be left with huge stocks? Not a chance. Launch day came and they ripped out. By lunchtime we’d gone back to PUMA, wiped out their entire stock, and flipped the sold out signs around by evening.
Limited Edition
This time around, just 800 pairs of the PUMA Future Tokyo boots will be available, once again exclusively at Pro:Direct Soccer. They will drop first on the Pro:Direct Sport App on April 12, so download it, make a free account and get ready to bag them. Should there be any left they’ll be available on the website from April 13, but don’t bank on it.

The PUMA Future Tokyo football boots drop in a choice of price points and in a choice of ground types – firm ground and turf. The Goalkeeper Gloves from 2011 are also given a modern transformation with DNA inspired by the original.
